Drug Uses
Crestor is used to control the level of cholesterol and blood pressure in people with primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia. This medicine is only effective when used along with certain diet.
How Taken
Crestor comes in pills to be taken by mouth with or without food. Usual dosage is 10mg - 40mg once a day.
More Information
You may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during curing or you may not be able to take this medicine at all if you have kidney or liver infection or if you have gastrointestinal problems. This pill interact with the following products- phenytoin (Dilantin); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); tolbutamide (Orinase); torsemide (Demadex); fluvastatin (Lescol); a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, ardeparin (Normiflo), dalteparin (Fragmin), danaparoid (Orgaran), enoxaparin (Lovenox), or tinzaparin (Innohep); (Activase), anistreplase (Eminase), dipyridamole (Persantine), streptokinase (Kabikinase, Streptase), ticlopidine (Ticlid), and urokinase (Abbokinase). Patients taking the above mentioned pills should call a doctor concerning the dose and possibility of Crestor usage.
